If your computer has an internet security program installed, you may have difficulties downloading data, registering and unregistering and/or upgrading ShareChart.
How to configure your internet security
You should configure your internet security program to allow the following programs to access the internet at all times.
None of the above ShareChart programs should ever be blocked by your internet security program. Please ensure that they are not listed in your internet security’s blocking list.
When prompted, always tick "Always allow access" or "Always permit access on all ports".
How to configure Norton Internet Security (NIS) to allow DataDownload.exe to access the internet and download data.
When you first start Download data, Register, Unregister or Upgrade, a NIS popup box may appear showing "DataDownload.exe is attempting to access the Internet" and it will ask you "what do you want to do?". The standard NIS default message will be "Block Always (Recommended)".
If you were to click the "Block Always (Recommended)" OK button then the ShareChart function you are attempting to use will always be blocked from any internet access and you will not be able use that function again. You should, therefore, select "Permit All" before clicking the OK button.
If the ShareChart function is blocked by NIS, you can try the following procedure to remove the block
You should then be able to use the blocked ShareChart function. You can repeat the above procedures for any other ShareChart functions (Unregister, Upgrade, etc if they have become blocked).
How to configure McAfee Internet Security Suite (MISS) to allow DataDownload.exe to access the internet and download data.
When you first start DataDownload.exe or you use a new DataDownload.exe after upgrading, MISS will popup a box showing "The program DataDownload.exe is requesting access to the Internet, Do you want to allow it?". You should select "Grant Access" to allow the DataDownload.exe to access the internet.
If DataDownload.exe is blocked in MISS, you can try the following procedure to remove the blocking.
You should be able to download data after the above procedures. You can repeat the above procedures for other programs that have been blocked.
How to configure ZoneAlarm to allow DataDownload.exe to access the internet and download data.
When you first start DataDownload.exe or you use a new DataDownload.exe after upgrading, ZoneAlarm will popup a box showing "Data Download is trying to access the trusted zone". You should tick "Remember this setting" and click "Allow" button to allow the DataDownload.exe to access the internet.
If DataDownload.exe is blocked in ZoneAlarm, you can try the following procedure to remove the blocking.
You should be able to download data after the above procedures. You can repeat the above procedures for other programs that have been blocked.
